With just two games to go in the 2023 season, we recap the last three games and the impact these have had on the fantasy cricket league. Our fixture against Amersham played in near perfect conditions and saw Tom Simmons yet again showing why being valued at 50p was such a bargain. A 66 from him saw that he activated the 10 batting bonus points, topped up with his 1 wicket and 1 catch saw him finish the game with a huge 101 total. The unselected Chris Jones showed yet again why he would have been such a great £2 purchase as he racked up 77 points in the game after a jug avoidance 47, two wickets for just 12 runs in 4 overs.
Our fixture against Watton-at-Stone was yet another game in which Paul Lewis saw himself finish not out, however being stranded on 49, he was unable to unlock the 10 bonus points for a 50. James Franklin boosted the Guest points yet again this season by 31 points for his all-round performance. Points shared by everyone across the board apart from AJ. Shazad who punished his 8 owners with another duck and a -5 score.
Our second fixture of the season against Arkley, saw some Reporters setting another 250 target for Arkley to chase thanks to all round performances from the top 6 batsmen. John Rogan fell agonisingly short of his 50 after being bowled for 49. Danny Mills (62) hit another 50 for the season and Jake Pike pushed the final ball of the innings for a simple single to finish 50*. Mark Walton added to his 37 points from batting with 2 wickets in his 3.4 overs, finishing up on 57 points. Chris Jones yet again picked up 3 wickets in his 8 overs and also unlocked the economy rate bonus points after finishing with an economy of 3.37 (8 overs for 27 runs). J. Pike added to his batting points by picking up 4 dismissals behind the stumps and finishing with 120 points in his final game of the season.
With just 2 games left in the season, we have seen a few changes across the board. DYSLEXIA UNTIED still remains in 1st position with 2502 points, closely followed by THORPIE’S SLAGS on 2390. Big Boy Jones (2254) has been replaced in the top three by ROWLANDS, who has snuck into the top 3 for the first time in the season with 2297 points. Paul Lewis now leads the top of the table for points with him collecting 701 points from his 20 fantasy fixtures, closely followed by previous table topper Dave Simmons (693). J. Pike has crept into 3rd position with 657 points, however with no more games left, AJ Shazad will look to claim the 39 points to climb back up.
