Arkley promise "no 20-mark quiz questions" as Scooby's Scole scandal intensifies
23 Aug 2014
Arkley have been forced to issue a statement reassuring all Roving Reporters that their quiz will not contain any 20-mark questions after the controversial conclusion to Scooby's tour quiz. Arkley stalwart Mervyn Lack said "We understand that the RRs quiz created some antagonism amongst their members, so we can categorically state that our quiz will be run in a fair and proper fashion, even if John Rogan's team is losing."
Arkley's statement follows a week in which pressure further increased on Scooby to consider his position as Tour Quizmaster. After the seemingly contrived drawn finish in Scole generated a number of calls for Scooby to resign his post, it was revealed that he gave an incorrect answer as well, only allowing Roger Moore as the actor who has played James Bond seven times when Sean Connery was also Bond seven times. When questioned over this matter Scooby declared nonchalantly that he had "discounted Never Say Never Again as it wasn't produced by Eon", but any film containing Kim Basinger dancing in a leotard should not be discounted for any reason.
In a sensational twist, Mervyn also revealed that Scooby had actually offered his services to Arkley to run their quiz. "We politely declined his offer," Merv said, "even though we're not averse to a draw...."
