The second fantasy cricket Gameweek finally was undertaken against Southgate Adelaide following successive weekends of cancellations and saw a high scoring week of points. Club captain showed again why his drop in value to £1.50 for the season could be a golden opportunity for those 15 managers who own him after leaving the field 75 not out.
J. Pike stepped up to his first game with a score of 69 before being overpowered by COX. A steady 20 from opener J. Rogan and quick 22 from tail ender D. Simmons left Reporters posting 222.
10 man Reporters started strongly with a first ball wicket collaboration from D and C Simmons, keeping the team on the front foot early on. A welcomed return to the bowling line up from “ROBOCHOP” C. Simmons showed why those 2 managers who backed this £1 asset while he was still in recovery deserved a 60point haul.
50p academy graduate A. Daly showed early why he could be one of this year’s underdogs by leading the bowling attack with 8 overs for 29 runs and 2 wickets, as well as a skying catch to finish with 42 points for the day.
J. Pike finished the game with the highest points of 119 thanks to 2 catches with the gloves and a shocking 0 byes conceded, followed closely by P. Lewis on 95.
Jonesy CC and Thors Legends now share the top the table on 340 points, followed closely by LBW’s on 327. A big jump from 21st to 4th for AD leaves them just 19 points away from the top spot. Last week’s leaders Rogie’s Reporters and Thors Slags crash from 1st down to 10th on 257 points and although picking up points in this Gameweek, Moffat 2’s remain rock bottom of the table on 27 points.
D. Simmons added to his opening weekend points tally to sit at the top of the table with 183 points and shows why although priced at £2 this season he could be a crucial purchase for those 6 managers. J. Pike currently holds top spot for PPG with 119, however with only one game on his belt everything could change for the £1.50 asset.
