ROVING REPORTERS CRICKET CLUB IS LOOKING FOR SOME NEW PLAYERS FOR THE 2022 SEASON!
Who are we?
Roving Reporters Cricket Club was established in 1974 and play friendly cricket matches, predominantly on a Sunday. We are a wandering side and therefore exclusively play away games from April through to the end of September, with the occasional midweek fixture and our annual tour to Norfolk in early August. Our ethos is to play cricket in the right spirit with emphasis placed on getting all players involved in the hope we can win more fixtures than we lose!
Where do we play?
We are a roving club so play all of our fixtures at our opposition’s grounds. The majority of our fixtures are played across Hertfordshire with the odd game in North London, Essex and Buckinghamshire. We are fortunate to play at some amazing grounds with fantastic facilities! Most fixtures are 40 overs per side, starting between 1pm and 2pm.
What standard do we play?
Depending on the personnel we field and the opposition strength, we would class ourselves somewhere between medium and medium-weak. We would welcome players with previous experience of playing cricket who enjoy the social element of the game and can bring some reasonable cricketing ability.
What are the commitment expectations?
We don’t require our players to play every week and have a squad of mixed ages and ability who we call upon. Some play every week and others 8-10 times a season. Ideally we would like to pick up players who can play a minimum of every other week to bolster the regular playing squad.
How do you express an interest in playing?
We are running winter net sessions from January to April 2022. These take place 8pm to 9pm at the University of Hertfordshire Sports Village in Hatfield. We would welcome any interested players to join us for some nets or to get in touch and find out more about joining us in the 2022 season!
