Can we play you every week? Kent win local derby against Essex whipping boys.
02 Sep 2011
Kent have claimed a victory against arch rivals and local whipping boys Essex with a thunderous win in the County Championship 2nd Division. This now extends Kent's glorious run to EIGHT consecutive wins against the Eagles this season.
RRs were delighted to send four club delegates to Canterbury on day 1 of the tie where wickets tumbled, hopes were dashed and hearts were broken as Essex were clearly destined to lose once again.
On asking RRCC club captain Jonathan Jenkins how we was feeling, he repsponded "To be quite frank, I'm starting to resent my parents for letting me be born in the joke of a county that is Essex. Not only do I support an extremely poor football team thanks to my Dad, I now have the humiliation of supporting the only cricket team to lose to Kent this season - EIGHT TIMES!"
Asked about his committment to continue following Essex next season, Jonathan claimed that he was "seriously considering his options" and that he "hoped he would not be converted to watching the brilliant Kent boys" in 2012.
RRCC club president Roger Jones, a delighted Kent supporter, retorted "Not only have we got to spend a day in the Garden of England this week, but we also got to stuff Essex out of sight. This is probably the happiest I've been since before all of my hair fell out in 1984."
Fellow RRCC members and Kent supporters Chris Jones, Stuart Wiggins, Mark Herbert and honorary Kent fan David Simmons have all indicated their intension to wear a Kent tie to the RRCC dinner & dance in honour of Kent's glorious winning streak against Essex.
