Derek Weist and the goblet of... wine
18 May 2012
Thursday 17th May signalled the start of the 1st test match for England against the West Indies. RRs stalwart Derek Weist attended the game along with his blue hamper that seemed to have a never ending supply of white wine and champagne which Derek supped from a silver goblet.
Upon asking where he was sat, Derek was spotted by 3 eagle-eyed RRs players with a pair of binoculars from the opposite side of Lords who then enjoyed a day of 'Weist spotting' which actually proved to be more interesting than the first day of cricket. Derek was caught starting a fight with an old, bald man wearing a red and white tie who was spotted (from distance) dipping into his precious blue hamper and removing a slab of Blue Gauda cheese.
Not only did Derek's silver goblet and blue hamper never leave his side throughout the day, but he also demonstrated a camel-like display of fluid retention by not once leaving his seat for toilet relief.
